Install the WPSSO Core Plugin

If you purchased a Pro license pack (of one or more licenses), you will have received an email with a unique Authentication ID that is required to update the Free version. You must have the Free version installed before installing the Pro version update.

Install the Plugin

  • Free version

    1. Go to the admin section of your WordPress site.
    2. Select the Plugins menu item.
    3. Select the Add New sub-menu item.
    4. In the Search box, enter “WPSSO Core”.
    5. Click the Search Plugins button.
    6. Click the Install Now button for the “WPSSO Core” plugin.
    7. Click the Activate Plugin button.
    8. The plugin Setup Guide is available under the new SSO menu.
  • Pro version

    1. Install and activate the Free version of WPSSO Core if necessary (see above).
    2. Install and activate the WPSSO Update Manager add-on (you can download the WPSSO Update Manager here and install the ZIP file manually, but the following method is a lot easier and faster). ;-)
      1. Go to the admin section of your WordPress site.
      2. Select the SSO menu item.
      3. Select the Add-ons settings page.
      4. Scroll down and locate the “WPSSO Update Manager” add-on.
      5. Click the Plugin Details and Install link.
      6. Click the Install Now button in the overlay window.
      7. Click the Activate Plugin button when WordPress is done installing the plugin.
    3. Enter the unique Authentication ID you received by email for the WPSSO Core plugin in the SSO > Add-ons settings page.
    4. An update for WPSSO Core should appear under the WordPress Dashboard > Updates page. Update the plugin from within WordPress (as you would any other plugin update) to install and activate the latest Pro version.

      If you have a multisite setup, note that the WPSSO Core plugin and the WPSSO Update Manager add-on must be activated on the default site / blog to get Pro version updates. This is a requirement of WordPress not WPSSO Core — WordPress uses the default site to manage updates in the network admin interface (which means the default site must be licensed to install updates).
